Jason Balser of Balser Homes
specializes in period homes, homes with custom architecture and client "Dream Homes," creating some of Tyler's finest and most unique homes. Ensuring the realization of his clients' vision while emphasizing quality and value is the goal of every project. With a Bachelor's degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University, Balser began his business in 1994 and later expanded into land development and commercial construction throughout East Texas.
Accentuating craftsmanship, attention to detail, long lasting value - with a focus on the builder/owner relationship - are the goals of Balser Homes. "We are grateful for the chance to continue building Tyler's finest homes."

Gary Bayless of Bayless Custom Homes, Inc. is a native Texan, who has been proudly building homes in the Tyler area for over 28 years. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Gary found his true passion in building homes of quality and character, creating each as a masterpiece of artistic ability. In February of 2010 his company was chosen to build a home for the Carr family of Mineola by ABC television's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Gary's wife, Vicki, is a teacher at Tyler's Robert E. Lee High School. They have three grown children - two are graduates of Texas Tech and one is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. They attend Green Acres Baptist Church, where Gary is involved in several volunteer building projects.

Bob Kurtz of Bob Kurtz Homes has been designing and constructing beautiful homes for more than 20 years. Since its inception, strict standards of craftsmanship, performance and attention to detail have been its hallmarks. Founder Bob Kurtz is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. He completed his first home in 1983 and has been designing and building quality, truly unique residences throughout Tyler and East Texas ever since. As a special service, he designs most of the homes that he builds and will work with clients to establish the floor plan and elevations they desire. Whatever the project, from an 1800 square-foot home to a 6,000 square-foot estate, Bob Kurtz offers the best people, the best tools and the assurance that his clients will be proud of and delighted with their new homes.

Scott Greene of Boulevard Homes is committed to exceed home buyer expectations when looking for something different in today’s market. Jason Campbell of Campbell Custom Homes, Inc. built his first home in 1999. Though he started building alone, Jason now has five employees and over 100 subcontractors.
Every home is built with the most energy efficiency possible by using a combination of TYVEK housewrap, vinyl windows, BioMax Spray Foam Insulation (soy bean based), and Hi seer 90% variable speed A/C systems - all of which contribute to lower utility bills. These products make CCH Energy Star homes eligible for for tax credits. Jason and his wife, Cindy, have been married 20 years and have two daughters. CCH prides itself on honesty and running a Christian-based business.

Carlton Edwards of Carlton Edwards Builder & Designer, LLC, began a career in financial services in 1976, eventually serving as a senior vice-president for one of the largest banks in America. All the while he was dreaming of designing and building custom homes. He built his first home in 1983, continuing building as a side profession during his 30-year career in financial services. Carlton retired from banking in 2006 and relocated to the Tyler area to pursue his life-long desire to build homes as a full time profession. What distinguishes Carlton is his attention to detail and impeccable business ethics. His “down-to-earth” approach helps to reduce the stress associated with designing and building a new home. Carlton and his wife of 29 years, Deborah, have three daughters.

Ricky Casey of Casey Homes is a second-generation homebuilder. Born and raised in the Tyler area, Ricky attended Texas State Technical Institute and Texas A&M University. Ricky has over 20 years construction management experience in residential, multi-family and industrial construction. When communicating with homebuyers, Casey Homes likes to keep things clear-cut. "We like for things to be as simple and uncomplicated as possible, and that is not always easy when you are building a home. That is why we document all promises we make to homebuyers in writing." Ricky has been building homes in East Texas since 1997. He and his wife Beverly live with their four children in Frankston.

Steven R. Phillips of Cotton Custom Homes, LLC is a native Tylerite and third generation builder received a bachelor's degree in Construction Science and Management from Texas A&M in 1999. From 2000 to 2003 Steven was a Project Manager in Dallas, but his love for East Texas brought him back home, where he established Cotton Custom Homes in 2004. Steven continues his family’s lengthy history in home construction. His grandfather, J.K. “Cotton” Phillips, had a framing business for over 20 years; his father, Steven A. Phillips, owns a framing business today and frames all of his son’s homes. Steven’s brother Ryan is a draftsman and designs all of the home plans. Steven and his wife Tiffany live in Flint.

Heritage Builders is raising the standard for energy efficiency in East Texas by partnering with the Environmental Protection Agency and Energy Star to offer homes that consume far less energy than industry standards. As a result their clients can enjoy lower utility bills and outstanding comfort.
Bill Andreason was born in New England and is raising his family in East Texas with his wife, Connie. His experience in management and sales greatly contributes to the building community. Jeff Andreason is a Lindale High School graduate and received a bachelor degree from Baylor University. He and his wife Charlsie moved to Tyler after college.

Matthew Peer of Homes by Matthew Peer LLC started his construction business in 2006 after 10 years of church work in the Tyler and Fort Worth areas. He earned bachelors' degrees in liberal arts and speech from UT Tyler in 1997 and then went on to get a graduate degree in education in 2000. He earned a Certified Green Professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders in 2009. All of his homes are Energy Star certified. Since building his first home in Flint, Matthew has acquired extensive experience with first-time buyers. Matthew, who builds primarily in the Flint and Bullard areas, wants the homebuilding experience to be as peaceful and enjoyable as possible for his clients. "We build energy-efficient homes that first-time buyers can afford."

Keven Hatcher of JK Hatcher Custom Homes has been building custom and spec homes for over 10 years. Born and raised in East Texas, Keven is a third generation builder who takes great pride in ensuring that quality work goes into each home he builds. Keven has built homes all over East Texas - in sub-divisions such as Running Meadows both West and North as well as several homes in The Villages. Homes range in price from $125,000 to $900,000. Keven is a personable builder who understands that each client’s needs are unique and that customer satisfaction is of utmost importance. Keven has two children and lives on Lake Palestine. When he is not working, Kevin is usually on the water fishing.

David Humphrey of Johnson Humphrey Homes, Inc. has been building homes in East Texas since 1984. David describes his building style as ranging from "traditional to wild." As a professional he is most proud of making people's dreams come true. "I strive to create happiness, where for many others it's just a job. All of my projects and customers are outstanding. You will be happy and sleep like a baby knowing we have a good reputation, and honesty is paramount." Johnson Humphrey Homes is an Energy Star Partner and is affiliated with the Better Business Bureau and Tyler Chamber of Commerce.

Kevin Humphrey of Kevin Humphrey Homes, Inc. received his B.S. degree in mining engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1979 and his M.B.A. degree from Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration in 1991. From 1980 to 1991 Kevin held various management, consulting and engineering positions at Arthur D. Little Consulting, Houston Industries, Phillips Petroleum and Exxon. Since 1991 he has been President of Kevin Humphrey Homes, Inc., a residential and commercial construction company. Originally from Burlington, Iowa, Kevin moved to Tyler in 1991 and married his wife Pamela in 1996. They have eight-year old twins, Rachel and Ryan.

Kyle and Jana Johns of KJ Homes, Inc., are the perfect building and design team in East Texas. They began working together in 2003 when they designed and built their first Parade home in 2004. Since then they have created many homes together. Building in the East Texas area since 1996, Kyle is a Certified Green Professional. His eye for detail, knowledge of construction and interpersonal skills provide a top-quality product and close relationships with his clients. After studying drafting and design at TJC and UT Tyler Jana began designing homes in 1996. Since then she has worked on projects from Illinois to Haiti. "Our ultimate goal is to provide each customer with a fine home of timeless appeal and enduring quality."

Peyton M. Laughlin III, president of Laughlin Properties, built his first house in Rowlett, Texas, in 1982. Peyton was born in Marshall and attended Kilgore Junior College. He and his wife of 32 years, Jill, have one daughter and three grandchildren. They moved to Tyler six years ago.

Daniel Kessinger of Madison Builders LLC worked as a mortgage broker after earning his degree in Industrial Technology at UT Tyler in 2000. In 2003 he began building with a local company, and it was during this time that Daniel's wife Lindi - his high school sweetheart - gave birth to their second child, Madison. Shortly after birth Madison was diagnosed with a Prader-Willi Syndrome, a life-long, life-threatening condition. In 2009 Daniel launched Madison Builders LLC to honor his daughter. He and Lindi have 3 "adorable" sons in addition to their daughter. "As a business we wanted to honor our daughter and her struggles by naming the company after her to help raise awareness and hope for her unique condition."

Sam Mezayek, co-founder of Mezayek Building Ltdand President of Hamilton Park construction, LLC, earned his degree in finance at the University of Texas at Austin. Sam started his building career in the Tyler area in 1990 and was named Builder of the Year in 1997. Sam received his Graduate Master Builder designation in 1997 and in 2005 received his CAPS designation from the Housing Institute of the National Association of Home Builders. He recently completed his CAASH certification requirements. Sam helps lead Mezayek building toward developing better communities and Hamilton Park Construction by building better homes.

Anwar Khalifa of Pyramid Homes earned a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and then a Masters degree in international business from the University of South Carolina. After working as a project engineer and sales engineer, he entered the homebuilding industry in 1993. Anwar has numerous NAHB designations and was the first Certified Green Professional in East Texas. He is currently building an emergency foster home. Anwar received the TB Butler Outstanding Citizen of the Year award in October 2005 for his work in bringing the Muslim and Jewish communities together to build a Habitat for Humanity house for a Christian family.

Robert Aiken of Robert Aiken Custom Homes, LLC, has been in the homebuilding and renovation industry for almost 30 years. While studying solar engineering in his native Canada in the late 70s, Robert developed a strong interest in now what is referred to as green building. Robert is concerned with our environment, both indoors and out, and employs as many eco-sensitive building techniques and materials as feasible. Each home Robert builds is done with energy efficiency and indoor air quality among his top priorities. He believes that when a builder opens the front door of a new home for his clients he is handing them a legacy. Robert is committed to his clients and his community and knows that his legacy of quality homes will be his testament to the mastery of his craft.

Starr Construction began in 2002 when Larry and his son Brandon Parker brought together their experiences in both residential and commercial construction, quickly tapping into a growing Tyler market. They have built homes in neighborhoods like Ashmore, Brynmar Court, Hollytree and Cambridge Bend Estates as well as developing their own project, Vineyard Estates. Starr Construction expanced their scope with both residential and commercial remodels, restaurants, nursing facilities and many other projects. By remain-ing a small family run business, customers are not shuffled from person to person - they deal directly with either Larry or Brandon, who stay involved in every aspect of the building process. Starr Construction provides a strong commitment to customer service and promises the highest level of quality and integrity in every project. 

Brad Stricklin of Stricklin Homes, Inc. began building in mid 1990 and incorporated in 1999. Brad believes in  continuing his education to keep up with the changing times. He has attended numerous classes provided by the National Association of Home Builders and other organizations. Brad has spent most of his life in the Tyler area and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School before gratuating from college in Waco. A member of the Better Business Bureau, Brad's main goal on every job it to produce a defect-free home. He believes in customer satisfaction as well as high-quality craftsmanship.

Trent Williams of Trent Williams Construction Management is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. Trent assembled a team of management specialists and professional craftsmen that take pride in constructing exceptional creations of the canvas of Tyler's finest neighborhoods. With a focus on providing quality construction coupled with unparalleled value, the goal of Trent Williams Construction Management is to make sure building your custom home is an enjoyable experience. The end result is the custom home of your dreams. Trent and his wife, Cindy, along with their two children are active members at Grace Community Church. They enjoy camping, traveling and recreational sports.


Rudy Wright of Wright-Way Services took over the family business in 1999 and has dedicated himself to building the “Wright Way”. Rudy is a Certified Green Professional, Licensed Realtor Certified Green, NABCEP Certified Solar Installer and dedicated renovator/builder. Wright-Way has sent our crews all over the United States providing expert work in commercial and multi-family construction projects since 1982. Our mission is to educate the public on what it means to build “green” and ensure the ethics of real estate are carried over into the construction field. We promote all types of innovative building and get people out of “the way it’s always been done” mentality. We are not tied to any one “Green” product or building method and inform clients of all the options to educate them on the best choice for their needs and budget.
